Deal insights
The GE 1.7 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Microwave is a Good Deal, offering capacity and venting typical for budget models while matching common cooking-performance expectations for this price tier. At $259.99 it aligns with many mainstream 1.6–1.7 cu ft GE OTR units and provides a reasonable balance of size and basic venting without premium combination cooking features.
Here is why
When selecting over-the-range microwave ovens, compare cooking performance, venting and installation, and interior capacity. Here is how this product performs:
1.
Cooking Performance (10 power levels; basic presets; microwave wattage unlisted) : For a budget-level positioning, the listed setup matches typical expectations of basic presets and multiple power levels. The listing does not state explicit wattage; budget benchmarks usually cluster near 900–1000 W so performance is likely typical for the segment, but buyers who care about exact power should confirm the wattage on the product page.
2.
Venting & Installation (two-speed venting; over-the-range) : Two-speed venting is typical for budget models and aligns with the benchmark of 2-speed, ~300 CFM recirculating-capable units. Installation type is standard for OTRs; this feature is neither above nor below expectations for a mainstream price point.
3.
Interior Capacity (1.7 cu ft) : A 1.7 cu ft cavity matches the common budget benchmark and sits squarely within expected capacity for this price tier. Capacity is appropriate for typical family use and is consistent with similar GE OTR models.
Deal price at $259.99: sits at the upper end of the budget band for over-the-range microwaves. No recent price history provided, so the comparison is against category bands and brand expectations for a mainstream appliance maker.
Overall, this Good Deal fits buyers seeking a reliable, no-frills over-the-range microwave with a familiar brand and standard capacity. Great for kitchen replacements where sensor cooking or convection is not required; double-check warranty and installation compatibility for your cabinet/ducting setup.
