Deal insights
The DEWALT 20V MAX Reciprocating Saw DCS380B is a Good Deal, offering brushless motor performance and a full 1 1/8 inch stroke that align with mid-range expectations while carrying a modest premium vs its recent average. Key strengths are the brushless motor and a 4-position blade clamp that match common mid-range prosumer features, making the price reasonable for buyers tied to DEWALT's platform.
Here is why
When selecting power reciprocating saws, compare power and performance, power source, and blade compatibility. Here is how this product performs:
1.
Power & Performance (3000 rpm; 1 1/8 in stroke; brushless motor; 4-position clamp) : Classified as mid-range: the 1 1/8 inch stroke and ~3000 SPM are typical for mid-range and align with benchmarks. The brushless motor is a higher-value attribute that matches mid-range to premium trends and helps justify the price point.
2.
Power Source (20V battery; cordless bare-tool) : Typical mid-range power source: 20V cordless compatibility fits expected mid-tier listings. Given DEWALT's established platform, buyers often accept a price premium for ecosystem compatibility and battery interchangeability.
3.
Blade Compatibility (8 in blades; high-speed steel; tool-free changes; 4-position clamp) : Blade system matches mid-range expectations: tool-free changes and 4-position clamps are commonly listed on mid-tier saws and are on par with benchmark feature sets. This is typical for the price band and supports everyday demolition and flush-cut tasks.
Deal price at $112.99: sits in the mid-range band for reciprocating saws, near typical mid-range pricing. It is slightly above its recent 90-day average of about $105.46, and the DEWALT name supports a higher price relative to generic alternatives.
Overall, this Good Deal suits users who want a durable, mid-range cordless saw on the DEWALT 20V platform for renovation and jobsite use. Double-check battery inclusion and warranty when buying, and consider this if you value brushless motor durability and familiar platform compatibility.
