Deal insights
The PHILIPS TAB5109/37 2.0 Channel Bluetooth Soundbar is a Good Deal, offering a standard budget 2.0 layout with common connectivity and surround-processing at a price slightly below recent levels. Key strengths are its familiar inputs and Dolby/DTS virtual processing; overall performance aligns with typical budget expectations rather than mid-range capabilities.
Here is why
When selecting home audio sound bars, focus on audio quality, channel configuration, and connectivity/smart features. Here is how this product performs:
1.
Audio Quality (Dolby Digital+; DTS Virtual: X; 120W max) : For a budget-level price, listed audio specs are typical. The inclusion of Dolby Digital Plus and DTS Virtual:X meets common budget expectations, while the 120W figure is a peak-style number often cited by budget models and does not alone indicate strong low-end bass without a subwoofer.
2.
Channel Configuration (2.0 front-stage) : A 2.0 layout is standard for the budget band and matches the category typicals. It is weaker than mid-range 2.1 or Atmos-capable setups, so buyers wanting deeper bass or virtual height effects should expect to add a sub or a higher-tier bar.
3.
Connectivity & Smart Features (HDMI ARC; Bluetooth 5.4; Aux/Optical/USB; Philips app) : Connectivity aligns with budget benchmarks: ARC, optical and Bluetooth are typical and useful. HDMI eARC is not listed, so advanced passthrough or lossless object audio is not supported; app control is a plus for a budget model and matches expected feature sets at this price.
Deal price at $69.99: sits near the higher end of the budget band for sound bars. It is priced below its recent 30-day average of about $77.7, which modestly improves value for a mainstream brand.
This Good Deal fits buyers who want an affordable, simple TV sound upgrade with HDMI ARC, Bluetooth 5.4, and virtual surround features. Double-check warranty and return terms if you prefer refurbished/open-box pricing, and confirm room size and bass expectations if you usually rely on a dedicated subwoofer.
