Deal insights
The Paper Mate EraserMate Erasable Pen is a Just-okay Deal, because the price is above recent typical levels while the core specs ( erasable ink, 1.0 mm tip, disposable design, 12‑pack ) align with budget-to-mid-range expectations rather than premium features.
Here is why
When selecting ballpoint pens, focus on ink performance, tip size, pack size, and refillability. Here is how this product performs:
1.
Ink Performance (erasable ink; pressurized cartridge) : Erasable ink is a distinct, functional claim and matches common budget-to-mid offerings that trade durability for erasability. For a mid-range price this ink performance is typical rather than premium; buyers who need weatherproof or archival ink should expect stronger refill systems at higher price bands.
2.
Writing Tip Size (1.0 mm; medium point) : A 1.0 mm medium tip is typical for budget and sits within expected mid-range options. It is neither finer nor unusually bold compared with typical mid-range benchmarks, so tip size is unremarkable for the price.
3.
Pack Size (12 count) : A 12-pack is common across budget and mid-range segments and aligns with typical multipack sizing. Given the per-unit price implied, the pack size does not provide a clear value advantage versus larger budget multipacks.
4.
Refillability & Refill Type (disposable) : Disposable design is typical for budget pens and less competitive in mid-range, where refillability is often stated. At this price point, lack of refillability is weaker than mid-range expectations and reduces long-term value.
Deal price at $11.39: sits in the lower-to-mid part of the mid-range band for ballpoint pens. It is priced above its recent 30-day average of about $8.16, which reduces the attractiveness of the listing despite Paper Mate being a familiar brand.
As a a Just-okay Deal, this listing is best for buyers who specifically want erasable ink in a familiar brand and prefer a 12-count pack. If price sensitivity matters, consider waiting for a price closer to the recent average or comparing to budget multipacks; also double-check return and warranty terms if buying at a premium over recent prices.
