Deal insights
The Lenovo ThinkCentre neo 50q Gen 5 Desktop is a Great Deal, offering above-mid-range connectivity and a modern 8-core hybrid CPU at a price comfortably below its recent typical level. Key strengths are extensive I/O, Wi‑Fi 6E and a compact 1‑liter chassis paired with a performance tier that matches higher mid-range expectations.
Here is why
When selecting mini computers, focus on performance, connectivity and expansion, and size and power. Here is how this product performs:
1.
Performance (8 cores (4P+4E); 12 threads; 2.2–4.8GHz; 12MB cache) : At roughly the mid-range/premium boundary, this hybrid 8-core CPU and integrated GPU sit above typical mid-range low‑power chips and closer to higher mid-range expectations. If paired with 16–32GB RAM and NVMe storage (common for this SKU class) it would match typical mid-range performance; confirm actual RAM/storage to finalize the fit.
2.
Connectivity & Expansion (HDMI 2.1; DisplayPort 1.4; Wi‑Fi 6E) : This I/O set is better than typical budget boxes and aligns with premium‑leaning mid-range models thanks to HDMI2.1, DP1.4 and front USB‑C 10Gbps plus Wi‑Fi6E. The variety of high‑speed ports supports multi‑display and modern peripherals, which is a meaningful value driver at this price band.
3.
Size & Power (1‑liter chassis; 90W adapter; 89% efficiency) : A 1‑liter active‑cooled mini with a 90W adapter fits compact mid-range expectations and is typical for VESA‑mountable small desktops. The listing omits weight and explicit cooling details, which is common; buyers wanting sustained heavy loads should verify cooling performance and configurable power profiles.
Deal price at $799.96: sits at the boundary between mid-range and premium price bands for mini PCs. It is priced below its recent 90-day average of about $1,015.61, which makes the current offer comparatively attractive for a well-known OEM like Lenovo.
Overall, this Great Deal suits buyers who need a compact office or home workstation with strong external connectivity, modern wireless networking, and a responsive CPU. Buyers who value warranty and long-term support will appreciate Lenovo as a mainstream brand; double-check memory and storage capacity options and warranty terms to confirm the exact configuration before purchasing.
