Deal insights
The HP ProDesk 600 Desktop Computer, Core i5-10400F, 16GB DDR4, 512GB SSD is a Good Deal, offering a solid 6-core CPU, 16 GB memory and a 512 GB SSD at a price below its recent typical level while matching common office-class performance and expandability for this tier.
Here is why
When selecting tower computers, compare CPU and memory, storage and GPU, plus expandability and cooling. Here is how this product performs:
1.
Performance Profile (i5-10400F; 6 cores/12 threads; 16GB DDR4) : At this price segment the 6-core i5 and 16GB are typical for lower mid-range desktops and better than many budget entries. CPU and RAM match mid-range expectations for general productivity; the i5-10400F lacks integrated graphics which explains the bundled low-end discrete GPU and focuses value on CPU and storage.
2.
Upgradability & Connectivity (Ethernet & Wi‑Fi; USB-C and USB-A; HDMI and VGA; GeForce GT 610) : Connectivity is in line with budget to lower mid-range systems, offering useful modern ports plus legacy VGA. The listed GT 610 is noticeably weaker than typical mid-range GPUs and is closer to entry-level graphics; reported max RAM 128GB suggests good upgrade potential but unspecified RAM slot count means buyers should confirm physical DIMM slots before planning large upgrades.
3.
Chassis Size & Cooling (Microtower; 5.98 x 11.93 x 13.27") : Microtower sizing and likely stock air cooling are typical for budget and entry mid-range desktops. This matches expectations for a compact office/workstation build; cooling details are not provided but there is no indication of advanced liquid cooling, so sustained high-load upgrades may require a case or cooler review.
Deal price at $749.97: sits near the lower end of the mid-range band for tower computers and above typical budget medians. It is priced below its recent 90-day average of about $850.62, which improves value for an established OEM like HP.
This Good Deal is a practical choice for office productivity, light content work, and users who want an OEM desktop with room to upgrade. Double-check RAM slot count and warranty details if you plan major upgrades or heavier gaming workloads, and consider a stronger discrete GPU if you need sustained 3D performance.
