Deal insights
The HP OMEN 40L Gaming PC Desktop Intel Core i7-14700F is a Great Deal, offering strong CPU cores, generous DDR5 memory, and a 1 TB NVMe at a mid-range price well below its recent typical level. The discrete GTX 1660 SUPER is modest for modern gaming but the overall platform (32 GB DDR5, upgradable chassis, 600W PSU) matches or exceeds mid-range expectations at this discounted price.
Here is why
When selecting tower computers, focus on CPU/GPU performance, memory and storage, and upgradability/connectivity. Here is how this product performs:
1.
Performance Profile (Core i7-14700F; 5.4 GHz boost; GTX 1660 SUPER) : Classifies as mid-range CPU performance and is noticeably strong for the mid-range band, matching the benchmark expectation for modern multicore desktop use. The GTX 1660 SUPER is typical to slightly weaker than current mid-range GPU expectations, so gaming at high settings or ray tracing will be limited without a future GPU upgrade.
2.
Upgradability & Connectivity (32 GB DDR5; 1 TB NVMe; 1 Gbps LAN) : This aligns with or exceeds mid-range connectivity and expansion expectations: modern DDR5, full-size NVMe, and standard port selection. The presence of upgrade headroom and full-size tower layout is consistent with good mid-range upgrade value.
3.
Chassis Size & Cooling (tower formfactor; 600W PSU; active fan-sink) : Chassis and cooling are typical for mid-range gaming towers, with adequate airflow and a commonly sized PSU. The cooling setup is standard air cooling rather than premium AIO liquid, which fits expected mid-range trade-offs between thermal performance and price.
Deal price at $1559.99: sits in the mid-range band for tower desktops. It is priced well below its recent 30-day average of about $2,138, which improves relative value for a mainstream OEM like HP.
Overall, this Great Deal suits buyers who want a powerful CPU for productivity and light-to-moderate gaming without paying premium GPU prices. It is a good match for creators who value multicore performance and expandability ; double-check warranty and GPU upgrade options if you plan to target high-refresh competitive gaming.
