Deal insights
The Greenworks 24V 12" Cordless String Trimmer/Edger is a Good Deal, offering expected 12" cutting width and 24V battery convenience at a price consistent with budget-tier competitors. Features such as a 2-in-1 trimmer/edger head, telescoping shaft, and pivoting head deliver useful usability that matches typical budget expectations without notable premium upgrades.
Here is why
When selecting string trimmers, focus on power source, cutting performance, and usability and comfort. Here is how this product performs:
1.
Power Source (24V battery; 2.0Ah battery) : Classifies toward the budget segment where 20–24V platforms are common. A single 2.0Ah pack is typical for this band and explains the lower price; buyers who need longer runtime should consider higher‑Ah or 40V platforms.
2.
Cutting Performance (12" cutting width; 2-in-1 trimmer; auto-feed head) : 12" swath and an auto-feed head are standard for budget trimmers and match typical expectations. This performance is adequate for small-to-medium yards but is smaller than mid-range 13–15" units that reduce pass count on larger lawns.
3.
Usability & Comfort (telescoping shaft; 90° pivoting head; push-button start) : Ergonomics are in line with budget benchmarks—telescoping shaft and pivoting head improve versatility and match typical usability features. Lightweight construction favors casual users; those seeking pro comfort or anti-vibration systems should look at higher-tier models.
Deal price at $79.99: sits near the upper end of the budget band and just below typical mid-range entry prices for string trimmers. It is essentially in line with its recent 90-day average of about $79.68, so price movement is neutral for this brand and category.
This Good Deal is suitable for homeowners with light-to-moderate yard work who want cordless convenience and easy edging without paying for higher-voltage platforms. Confirm battery capacity and warranty if you expect longer runtimes or plan heavier use, and consider stepping up to a 40V/mid-range kit if you need larger swath or more continuous power.
