Deal insights
The BLACK+DECKER 20V MAX String Trimmer and Edger 2 in 1 is a Good Deal, offering a familiar 20V battery platform, a typical 12-inch cutting width and lightweight ergonomics at a price that remains close to recent levels. Its specs match expected budget-tier performance while providing useful edging capability and a compact, easy-to-handle package.
Here is why
When selecting string trimmers, buyers typically compare power source, cutting performance, and usability/comfort. Here is how this product performs:
1.
Power Source (20V MAX; battery) : Matches typical budget expectations of a 20V cordless platform. This is common for entry-level kits and explains the lower price relative to mid-range 40V/brushless systems. If you need longer runtime, higher‑Ah packs or multi‑tool platform compatibility would usually appear in higher bands.
2.
Cutting Performance (12-inch cutting; 6200 rpm; 2-in-1 trimmer) : A 12-inch swath and 2-in-1 function are typical for the budget segment and align with the benchmark median for basic homeowner use. Performance is adequate for light-to-moderate trimming; heavier or wider‑area work is where mid-range 13–15" or brushless units pull ahead.
3.
Usability & Comfort (5.7 pounds; adjustable height; wall-mount charger) : Weight and adjustable ergonomics are toward the favorable side of budget models and match typical expectations for easy handling. Inclusion of a wall-mount charger is a practical convenience; premium comfort features like anti-vibration systems or harnesses are not expected at this price.
Deal price at $79: sits near the upper end of the budget band for string trimmers. It is slightly above its recent 90-day average of about $76.31, and the included 20V battery aligns with common budget platform expectations.
Overall, this Good Deal fits homeowners who want a lightweight, cordless trimmer for routine yard maintenance and occasional edging. Double-check battery capacity and warranty if you expect extended run time, and note the price is close to its recent average so benefits come mainly from convenience rather than deep discounting.
