Deal insights
The BLACK+DECKER LCC221 20V MAX String Trimmer/Edger is a Good Deal, offering a familiar 20V battery platform, a practical 2-in-1 trimming/edging head, and lightweight ergonomics at a price a touch below its recent average. Features align with typical budget-to-midrange expectations rather than premium performance, so the value comes from convenience and brand platform compatibility more than standout cutting power.
Here is why
When selecting string trimmers, focus on power source, cutting performance, and usability and comfort. Here is how this product performs:
1.
Power Source (20V Max; battery powered) : Classifies toward the budget to lower mid-range power band. Typical for 20V systems; offers platform compatibility and convenience but lacks the higher-voltage runtime and torque of 40V+ mid-range units.
2.
Cutting Performance (2-in-1 trimmer; 7000 rpm) : The 2-in-1 head and quick RPM figure match common homeowner needs, but the quoted cutting width appears anomalous (likely a listing error) compared with typical 10–15" swaths. Real cutting swath is probably around the usual 10–12" for this class; buyers should confirm the actual cutting width on the product page.
3.
Usability & Comfort (3.7 pounds; adjustable height; soft-grip handle) : Ergonomics are noticeably better than many entry-level units thanks to low weight, adjustable height and auto-feed. This matches or slightly exceeds typical budget comfort benchmarks and is appropriate for light-to-moderate yard tasks.
Deal price at $107.99: sits in the lower-to-mid portion of the mid-range band for string trimmers. It is priced slightly below its recent 30-day average of about $110.40, which modestly improves value for a known platform like BLACK+DECKER.
This Good Deal fits homeowners who want an easy-to-handle 20V trimmer/edger for light-to-moderate yard work and who value a common battery platform and low weight. Double-check battery capacity and warranty if you plan heavy or frequent use; if you need larger swaths or professional torque, a higher-voltage mid-range model may be preferable.
