Deal insights
BLACK+DECKER 18V Cordless SDS-Plus Hammer Drill BCD900B-XJ is a Good Deal, offering useful SDS-Plus rotary-hammer capability, a common 18V cordless platform, and competitive drilling capacities at a price notably below its recent typical level.
Here is why
When selecting power hammer drills, focus on impact energy, chuck/bit compatibility, power source, and drilling capacity. Here is how this product performs:
1.
Impact Power (1.2 J; hammer mode) : At about 1.2 J this is toward the lower end of mid-range compact SDS‑Plus rotary hammers. That energy is typical for light-duty masonry tasks and compares as weaker than premium rotary hammers but acceptable for occasional chiseling and small-diameter concrete drilling.
2.
Chuck Type & Bit Compatibility (SDS-Plus; accepts SDS-Plus) : SDS‑Plus is the expected interface for mid-range rotary hammers and matches mid-range benchmarks. This makes the tool suitable for standard masonry bits and accessories without needing adapters.
3.
Power Source & Motor (18V; Li-ion; cordless) : An 18V cordless platform is typical for mid-range cordless hammer drills. Performance will depend on battery Ah and motor type; if this is a basic brushed pack it is typical mid-range, while a brushless high-Ah pack would push performance higher.
4.
Drilling Capacity (wood 25 mm; metal 12 mm; concrete 18 mm) : Quoted capacities align with mid-range expectations for a compact hammer drill and are typical for DIY-to-light-pro use. Concrete capacity around 18 mm is consistent with the stated impact energy and price band.
Deal price at $101.97: sits in the lower-to-mid end of the mid-range band for rotary/hammer drills. It is priced below its recent 90-day average of about $161.87, which helps justify stronger-than-typical specs for the price.
This Good Deal fits DIYers and occasional pros who need an 18V SDS-Plus hammer drill for medium masonry and general-purpose work without paying premium tool prices. Double-check battery compatibility, included battery/charger details, and warranty terms, especially if buying a renewed or open-box listing.
