Deal insights
BIC Round Stic Xtra Life Black Ballpoint Pens 12-Count 1.0mm is a Good Deal, offering the expected durable, everyday ink and a standard 1.0 mm medium tip in a familiar 12-count pack at a low absolute price. Features align with budget benchmarks—simple oil-based style ink, very common 1.0 mm tip, and a multipack format—so the value depends mostly on wanting a basic, refillable brand pen rather than premium ink chemistry.
Here is why
When selecting ballpoint pens, look at ink performance, writing tip size, pack size, and refillability. Here is how this product performs:
1.
Ink Performance (black ink; oil-based ink; quick-dry claim) : Matches budget expectations for basic oil-based ballpoint ink. Typical for this price band: functional, quick-drying claims rather than specialty low-viscosity or archival chemistry. For users seeking hybrid or premium smear-resistant ink, mid-range brands usually offer clearer chemistry claims.
2.
Writing Tip Size (1.0 mm; medium point) : A 1.0 mm tip is exactly the common budget benchmark and is typical for low-cost multipacks. This tip size is not a premium finer option but matches expected everyday performance and line weight for general writing.
3.
Pack Size (12 count; multipack) : Pack size falls squarely within budget multipack norms where quantity is prioritized. Twelve-count packs are common for value buys and align with typical expectations rather than premium single-pen presentation.
4.
Refillability & Refill Type (refillable yes; refill type unlisted) : Listing states refillable, which is slightly stronger than many disposable budget pens where refillability is not emphasized. The absence of a named refill type is typical for budget offerings and does not necessarily indicate poor performance; buyers who need a specific refill family should confirm the cartridge compatibility on the product page.
Deal price at $1.91: this sits below typical mid-range and is within the low end of budget pricing for ballpoint pen multipacks. It is priced above its recent 90-day average of about $1.32, which suggests the current listing is slightly higher than the short-term typical level.
This Good Deal is a sensible choice for buyers who need reliable, low-cost everyday pens in multi-count form or for office/school use. Double-check warranty or seller return terms if you are buying primarily because of the slightly higher current price versus the recent average; otherwise this is a practical pick for basic writing needs.
