Deal insights
BIC Glide Bold Blue Ballpoint Pens is a Just-okay Deal, because the small 4-count disposable pack and very large 1.6 mm tip are typical of budget offerings but the current price is above its recent average, so value is limited compared with common multipack alternatives.
Here is why
When selecting ballpoint pens, compare ink performance, tip size, pack size, and refillability for intended use. Here is how this product performs:
1.
Ink Performance (blue ballpoint; smooth writing) : Ink matches the budget-typical oil-based/standard ballpoint claims of smooth, quick-writing performance. This is typical for budget segment pens and does not indicate mid-range hybrid or premium cartridge chemistry.
2.
Writing Tip Size (1.6 mm; bold tip) : A 1.6 mm tip is toward the larger end of the typical range and is consistent with bold, marker-like ballpoint performance common in budget models. For finer writing or mid-range pens, 0.5–1.0 mm tips are more typical.
3.
Pack Size (4-count) : A 4-count pack is smaller than the common budget multipacks (often 12–60) and aligns with low-quantity retail SKUs. Given the per-unit pricing dynamics, small pack size makes the listed price less competitive versus larger economy packs.
4.
Refillability & Refill Type (nonrefillable) : Disposable construction is typical for budget pens where refillability is not emphasized. Mid-range and premium benchmarks more often state refill compatibility, so this feature keeps the product firmly in the budget tier.
Deal price at $5.88: sits near the lower end of the budget band for ballpoint pens. It is priced above its recent 30-day average of about $4.36, which reduces the value of the current listing versus recent levels.
Overall, this a Just-okay Deal is best for buyers who specifically want a bold 1.6 mm disposable pen in a small pack for occasional use. If you need lower per-pen cost or refillable options, consider larger budget multipacks or mid-range refillable models and double-check per-unit pricing and refillability before buying.
