Deal insights
The Apple MNED2LL/A 27-inch iMac Retina 5K Display is a Good Deal, offering a large Retina display and roomy Fusion storage at a price well below recent averages for similar refreshed iMacs. Core CPU and 8 GB RAM are typical for lower-end configurations, while the 27-inch Retina panel and 2 TB Fusion drive stand out relative to many budget AIOs; the renewed condition likely accounts for the reduced price.
Here is why
When selecting all-in-one computers, focus on system performance, display quality, connectivity and ports, and form factor/adjustability. Here is how this product performs:
1.
System Performance (Core i5 3.8 GHz; 8 GB memory; 2 TB Fusion) : At this price segment the Core i5 with 8 GB RAM aligns with lower-end or entry configurations; RAM is typical for budget AIOs but below mid-range expectations. The large 2 TB Fusion hybrid drive gives much more onboard capacity than typical budget SSDs, which is advantageous for storage-heavy users but may be slower than a modern NVMe SSD for intensive workloads. Renewed condition can justify the lower price but buyers who need stronger multitasking should plan to upgrade RAM or storage to NVMe.
2.
Display Quality (27" Retina; 3840×2160) : A 27-inch Retina / 4K-class panel is noticeably better than typical budget displays and aligns more with higher-tier display benchmarks. For general content, the larger high-resolution screen is a strong point compared with common 21.5–24" FHD AIOs in lower price bands.
3.
Connectivity & Ports (Thunderbolt; USB-C; Ethernet) : I/O including Thunderbolt/USB‑C and Ethernet is stronger than many budget models and more like mid-range offerings. This level of ports supports external docks and faster peripherals, adding practical value especially for desktop use.
4.
Form Factor & Adjustability (all-in-one desktop; stand adjustability unlisted) : The 27" all-in-one form matches premium aesthetics but the listing does not specify height adjustment; tilt-only stands are common at lower prices while better ergonomic adjustment usually appears in mid-to-premium models. Buyers who need precise height/ergonomics should double-check the stand details on the product page.
Deal price at $389: sits near the lower end of the budget-to-midrange band for all-in-one desktops. It is priced below its recent 30-day average of about $557, which helps explain the value for a renewed unit.
Overall, this Good Deal suits buyers who prioritize a high-quality 27-inch Retina screen and large onboard storage at a reduced price and who are comfortable buying a renewed Apple desktop. Confirm warranty/return terms for renewed condition and consider a RAM upgrade if you plan heavier multitasking or professional work.
