Deal insights
The ASUS ROG Strix G18 is a Great Deal, offering high-end CPU and GPU combination, a large color-accurate high-refresh display, and generous RAM/storage for the price. The sub-$2,000 price compared with its recent average and the premium-class specs make it a strong value for users who need gaming or content-creation performance in a large 18-inch chassis.
Here is why
When selecting traditional laptop computers, prioritize performance, display quality, battery life, and portability. Here is how this product performs:
1.
Performance (i7-14650HX; RTX 5060; 32 GB DDR5; 1 TB PCIe 4.0) : Specs match or exceed typical premium benchmarks: HX-class i7 plus an RTX discrete GPU and 32 GB RAM place it in the premium performance tier. This level of CPU/GPU/RAM is notably better than mid-range expectations and suitable for gaming and content workflows; at the current price it represents strong performance value from a mainstream premium brand.
2.
Battery Life (90 Wh; runtime unlisted) : A 90 Wh pack is consistent with premium/gaming machines that typically sacrifice runtime for performance. Because runtime and charging speed are not specified, buyers who need long unplugged use should double-check real-world runtime claims and charging specs on the product page.
3.
Portability (18-inch; aluminum chassis) : An 18-inch gaming notebook with aluminum build aligns with premium desktop-replacement class rather than ultraportable expectations. Weight is not listed, which is common for large gaming models; expect a heavier machine typical of premium gaming/workstation laptops.
4.
Display Quality (2560×1600; 240 Hz; 100% DCI-P3) : This display is at or above premium benchmarks for gaming/creator panels: high refresh plus wide color gamut is better than typical mid-range and matches premium expectations. The combination of 240 Hz and 100% DCI-P3 is valuable for both fast gaming and color work, enhancing the laptop's price-to-feature proposition.
Deal price at $1969: sits in the premium price band for mainstream laptops and toward the higher end of premium for gaming/creator-oriented 18-inch models. It is priced below its recent 30-day average of about $2314, which strengthens the value proposition for a well-known OEM like ASUS.
As a Great Deal this laptop fits gamers and creators who want an 18-inch high-refresh panel, a powerful Intel HX-class CPU and RTX discrete GPU without paying higher flagship prices. Confirm battery runtime and exact weight if mobility or long unplugged use is important, and review warranty/return terms since exact charger/runtime details are not listed.
