Deal insights
The AMERISUN 22-Inch 170cc Walk Behind String Trimmer is a Good Deal, offering a strong gas engine and a wide 22-inch cutting swath at a price modestly below its recent average. Key strengths are the 170cc OHV engine and 22-inch cutting width, while the ergonomics and wheels align with mid-to-premium homeowner expectations.
Here is why
When selecting string trimmers, consider power source, cutting performance, and usability/comfort. Here is how this product performs:
1.
Power Source (170cc OHV; gas powered) : At this price point the 170cc gas engine is toward the premium side of typical powerSource options and is stronger than most mid-range gas units (which often sit at 25–52cc). This likely explains much of the price and suits users who need sustained torque for tall grass and brush; confirm service and warranty terms for a less familiar brand.
2.
Cutting Performance (22-inch width; tall grass/brush) : A 22-inch swath is noticeably better than typical mid-range cutting widths (13–15") and aligns with premium-level capability. For users with heavy growth or brush, this is a meaningful advantage versus 10–14" hobbyist units.
3.
Usability & Comfort (62 lb; 14-inch wheels; foldable handle; 1.9–4.0 in) : Usability features match mid-to-premium expectations: large wheels and adjustable height aid control, but 62 pounds is relatively heavy for homeowner use. The foldable handle improves storage. Overall ergonomics are typical for walk-behind heavy-duty models rather than lightweight battery trimmers.
Deal price at $296.99: sits near the lower-to-mid end of the premium band for string trimmers. It is priced below its recent 90-day average of about $325.14, which supports the list price for a gas-powered unit.
Overall, this Good Deal suits buyers who want gas-powered power and a large cutting swath for tall grass and brush without paying top-tier pro prices. Great for heavy-yard homeowners who value a walk-behind format; double-check warranty and service/support for this brand and confirm fuel/maintenance guidance if you prefer lower upkeep.
